Data Visualization

Hurricane.jpg

Hurricane Lab

In collaboration with a database programmer, created a proof of concept prototype and pitched our concept to Jason, who used it in their curriculum. Lenni designed and produced all aspects of the interactive.

Students can choose a hurricane from the menu, play it and see the path and intensity of the hurricane over time. The can see barometric pressure and wind speed over time and they can compare hurricanes. Also, they can view the original data source.

Sap Flow.jpg

Maple syrup sap flow

In collaboration with content developer Betsy Youngman we visualized data from a researcher from Cornell University. Lenni designed the graphic interface and programmed the interactivity.

The maple syrup sap flow season is mapped over time in several US cities. The change in the recent length of the season can be compared with earlier times in the Historic Sap Flow window and with projections for 2080, for high and low CO2 emissions.

Temperature is shown for different locations using a color gradient. Present and projected future temperatures can be compared.

Lady Liberty & the Coronavirus

Making your own masks: When it comes to trapping the coronovirus in the aerosols coming from your mouth, what properties of fabrics are important? What fabrics are best? How do they compare with others?

As a mask maker herself, Lenni researched, developed the concept and illustrated this poster.
